Bowling Green Police were called to a home Wednesday (11/5) in the 100 block of Ridge Street by a tenant who said his landlord had turned off power to the home and was holding a firearm during a verbal altercation about the situation.
The landlord, John Graham, 74, shares the house with the tenant, and told police he was tired of the tenant running a fan constantly and being behind on rent. Graham reportedly told police he shut off circuit breakers to prevent the tenant from using electricity.
When the tenant arrived home around 9 p.m. to find all the lights off, he yelled from the front porch at Graham, who said he was asleep on his couch. Graham reportedly told police he secured his handgun, which he keeps close to him at all times while sleeping.
Graham, carrying the firearm, reportedly confronted the tenant, who then called police. Officers found the Glock with 13 rounds loaded in the magazine and one round in the chamber. They also found Graham with a strong odor of alcohol, glassy eyes and slurred speech.
Graham was arrested for using a weapon while intoxicated and taken to Wood County Jail.
