BG Police arrest man for inducing panic after he allegedly threatened to shoot people at bar

Bowling Green Police arrested a man Thursday (10/17) after he allegedly threatened to shoot people at a downtown bar and then kill himself.

Reese Brown, 19, of Bryan, was charged with inducing panic, drug abuse, underage possession of alcohol, open container, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to Wood County Jail.

Police received a call around 11:20 p.m., from a person who said Brown had just called him and talked about his alleged plan to shoot people in a bar in the 100 block of North Main Street. Police arrived to find Brown in his pickup truck in the parking lot behind the bar.

Brown reportedly admitted to making the threat to “go into the bar and go crazy, shoot people, and kill myself so I don`t get into trouble.” But Brown told people he was distraught about a relationship and didn’t mean to carry out the threat.

Police reportedly found a pocket knife on Brown, a crossbow and arrows in his truck, but no gun. They also reported finding drugs, drug paraphernalia and alcohol.
