BG Police arrest man for OVI and find he has felony warrant

Bowling Green Police arrested a California man for OVI, after he was reportedly seen driving at a high rate of speed with no headlights, but with the hazards flashing.

Michael Johnson, 51, of Garden Grove, was eastbound on East Wooster Street, Monday (May 19) around 2:20 a.m., when an officer noted the speed and lack of headlights. Johnson reportedly exited the roundabout onto Campbell Hill Road, and was going so fast, the officer stated he temporarily lost visual contact.

Johnson then pulled over in the Carter Park entrance. A passenger in the car reportedly told police that Johnson was having a heart attack. The driver was reportedly leaning so far back in his seat that he was speaking to the officer through the backseat window.

Johnson told police he was headed to Wood County Hospital – which was the opposite direction than he was driving. Police called EMS, which determined that Johnson was not experiencing a heart attack.

The police report noted random words being spoken by Johnson – about the number of plantations in North Carolina, El Chapo, his glasses being stolen, what happens if an electric grid goes down, and having to serve seven years in a Texas prison if he had any guns. He asked the officer if he would go to South Africa to hang out with Elon Musk.

Johnson then reportedly stated he had a concussion. When asked for his identification, he reportedly gave police his business card and yelled, “Hail Mary.”

It was discovered that Johnson had a felony warrant. He had watery, bloodshot eyes, and was taken to the hospital, where a urine sample was taken.

He was then taken to Wood County Jail.
