Bowling Green Police arrested a man Saturday morning for reported domestic violence and strangulation of his victim.
Jason Grilliot, 23, was arrested at his home in the 100 block of Ada Street.
Police were called to the apartment around 11 a.m., to assist a woman who had reportedly been injured by Grilliot. When police arrived at the apartment, Grilliot reportedly told them that he was upset because the woman had woken him, and he’s not a morning person.
The woman told police that when the argument started to escalate she started putting on shoes to leave. Grilliot reportedly threw one shoe outside, and began pushing and grabbing at the woman. He reportedly grabbed her from behind with his arm around her neck, and threw her to the ground. The woman said she was unable to breathe for a short period of time.
Grilliot reportedly then threw the woman on the couch, then into a table in the living room.
At that point, a downstairs neighbor came up and knocked on the door. The neighbor reported hearing yelling and loud thuds through her ceiling for eight to 10 minutes before knocking on the door.
The victim went with the neighbor to her apartment.
Police reported seeing redness on the victim’s neck, chest, and a small bruise on her neck. They also noted a bruise and swelling under her eye, a scratch on her nose, scratch on her arm and redness of the arm.
Grilliot reportedly told police he restrains the woman to calm her down when they argue.
A roommate in the apartment said he was sleeping after working third shift, when he heard arguing. When he heard a loud crashing sound, he went out into the living room, where he saw the victim on the floor over a coffee table. The roommate said he was unsure how she got there, but decided he needed to intervene.
Police assisted the woman in connecting with the Cocoon Shelter.
