BG Police arrest man with 2 warrants and 2 prior domestic violence convictions for alleged assault

A North Baltimore man with two active warrants and two prior domestic violence convictions, was arrested in Bowling Green Monday for allegedly assaulting a woman.

Bowling Green Police responded to a residence in the 1000 block of North Main Street around 7 p.m., after a neighbor reportedly videotaped the assault outside the residence and called police.

Joshua Hoffsis, 39, was arrested for alleged assault, unlawful restraint, and obstructing official business. He was taken to Wood County Jail.

Police reviewed the witness’ videotape, which reportedly showed Hoffsis hitting the woman in her face with his fists multiple times, knocking her to the ground, then dragging her by the hair inside the residence.

After police removed the woman from the home, Hoffsis reportedly refused to exit the residence. Police learned he had two active warrants from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, with an attached warning that Hoffsis reportedly had violent tendencies and a history of drug abuse.

After several attempts to call Hoffsis went unanswered, the police division called in the Wood County Special Response Team.

Hoffsis walked out of the residence on his own and was taken to jail.
