BG Police charge man with domestic violence after he allegedly put woman in headlock

Bowling Green Police charged a man with domestic violence after he allegedly put a woman in a headlock and stopped her from responding to her baby’s crying.

Police sought a warrant for Seongju Yang, 24, of Bowling Green, after officers responded Tuesday (Sept. 23) around 7:20 p.m., to a home in the 1500 block of East Clough Street.

A woman told police she and Yang were arguing upstairs, when the baby began crying downstairs. The woman said she tried to get around Yang to go downstairs, when he allegedly kept pushing her back, slapped her face, then placed her in a headlock and put her on the floor.

She was able to get free and went downstairs, got the baby who was in a portable carrier, and ran outside. Yang reportedly left in his vehicle, taking the woman’s personal information with him.

Bowling Green Fire Division checked the woman and baby for injuries, and police reported the incident to Wood County Job and Family Services.
