Bowling Green Police arrested a man Wednesday for domestic violence after he reportedly kicked a woman and threatened to throw her down the stairs.
Jared Smith, 19, of Bowling Green, was taken to Wood County Jail.
Police received a call around 11:45 p.m. of a domestic violence incident in progress in the 300 block of Campbell Hill Road.
The victim told police that Smith had kicked her in the ribs, pinned her to the floor by her arms, and tried to throw her down the stairs. Smith reportedly was not able to push her down the stairs, and ended up falling down them himself. Police noted a red mark where Smith allegedly kicked the victim.
Smith allegedly told police he had kicked the victim, and he told the woman he would throw her down the stairs if she didn’t calm down.
According to the police report, Smith made several attempts to resist arrest.
About three hours later, on Thursday around 3:15 a.m., the victim called the police station and said she wanted to change her narrative of what occurred. She told police she must have tripped into the half wall at the top of the stairs. She said the red marks by her ribs were due to that fall, not Smith kicking her.
