A Bowling Green Middle School student reportedly sent photos of a gun and threatening messages to another student last week.
Bowling Green Police Division received a report of the exchange over Snapchat on Monday, and questioned the 14-year-old boy who reportedly sent the messages and the 12-year-old boy who received them.
The older boy reportedly sent a photo of a gun and a loaded magazine to the younger boy, along with a threatening message using the N-word. When questioned by police, the older boy said the firearm was an airsoft gun owned by his uncle.
The uncle confirmed the gun was his, and told police he had showed his nephew the airsoft to teach him about gun safety. Police reported the gun was at the uncle’s house and not in the 14-year-old’s possession.
The investigation report has been sent to the Wood County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office to make a decision if any charges are necessary.
