BG Police request warrant for Michigan man who allegedly threatened to pistol whip woman

Bowling Green Police requested a warrant Friday (11/28) for a man charged with aggravated menacing. Police were contacted around 2:30 p.m., by a woman who said her boyfriend, Maurice Smith Jr., 20, had threatened her.

She told police that she and Smith were homeless, since there was a warrant for his arrest in Monroe, Michigan, where they had been living.

They reportedly came to a relative’s apartment in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue in Bowling Green to stay. But the woman told police that when she told Smith she wanted to go back to Michigan, he said he would beat her and pistol whip her if she tried to leave. She told police that he was very abusive and had strangled her two days ago in Michigan.

She reportedly grabbed her coat and fled the apartment in Bowling Green, and called police. Officers met her in a nearby parking lot.

A search was conducted in the area and Smith was not found, but a warrant was requested for his arrest.
