BG Police respond to store after customer reportedly threatened staff with rock and stick

Bowling Green Police were dispatched to a store after a man seeking nasal decongestant reportedly threatened employees with a rock and stick.

Police responded Saturday (April 5) around 6:30 p.m., to Walgreens, in the 1000 block of North Main Street.

According to employees, a man walked into the store carrying a stick and a rock. When the clerk at the checkout asked about the stick, the man reportedly became defensive and began yelling and cursing at the clerk, and threatened to hit him with the rock.

When another employee came to the front of the store, the man reportedly told him the clerk had been disrespectful to him as he was trying to purchase two menthol inhalers. The Benzedrex he was trying to buy is kept in lockboxes at the store.

As the employee was trying to complete the transaction, the man reportedly became more upset and said if he wasn’t given the products, he would use the rock to open the lock boxes. The male was given the Benzedrex and reportedly walked out without paying.

The man was described as being about 40 years old, wearing a black and gray stocking cap, white and black plaid shirt and jeans, and driving a gray Chrysler Pacifica.
