BG Police use drone to find woman with felony warrant living in tent in wooded area

Using a drone with a spotlight, Bowling Green Police located a woman with a felony warrant, living in a wooded area of the Black Swamp Preserve.

An officer was doing flight training with a thermal drone on Tuesday, in the woods located near the 1000 block of South Main Street. The drone identified a hot spot near a tree line that appeared to be someone in a tent.

This morning (11/13) around 2:15, police deployed two drones – one with a spotlight and one equipped with a speaker.

The drones located the tent, and lit the area as officers took Leeann Cox into custody. She was wanted for two counts of theft, and was taken to Wood County Jail.

Cox and another person found inside the tent were both given trespassing warnings for the Black Swamp Preserve.
