BG Post of State Highway Patrol names 2025 trooper and dispatcher of the year

Two Ohio State Highway Patrol officers from the Bowling Green Post have been recognized for their work.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Emily N. Wooley has been selected as the 2025 Trooper of the Year at the Bowling Green Post.

The selection of Wooley, 27, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2025 at the Bowling Green Post. Fellow officers stationed at the Bowling Green Post chose Wooley based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public.

Wooley is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Award to be announced at a later date.

Wooley joined the patrol in September 2018 as a cadet intern assigned to the Bowling Green Post. In June 2019, she began the Highway Patrol Academy with the 166th Academy Class. She earned her commission in January 2020 and was assigned to the Fremont Patrol Post. In 2023, Wooley earned the Fremont Post Trooper of the Year. In 2025, she earned her first Criminal Patrol Award for her involvement in felony arrests.

Wooley earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Bowling Green State University in 2020. She is originally from Madison and a graduate of Madison High School.

Dispatcher Samantha R. Garcia

Ohio State Highway Patrol Dispatcher Samantha R. Garcia has been selected as the 2025 Dispatcher of the Year at the Bowling Green Dispatch Center.

The selection of Garcia, 32, is in recognition of outstanding service over the past year at the Bowling Green Dispatch Center, which covers Wood and Lucas counties. Sworn officers and dispatchers chose Garcia based on technical job knowledge and ability, enthusiastic work attitude, teamwork, and prompt and courteous response to the public’s request for information and assistance.

Garcia joined the Patrol in 2022 and has served at the Bowling Green Dispatch Center throughout her career. Originally from Napoleon and a graduate of Napoleon High School, she graduated from ITT Technical Institute in 2012, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in criminal justice.

Garcia is now in contention for the District and State Dispatcher of the Year Award to be announced at a later date. She resides in Toledo with her wife and their pets.
