“Sometimes it seems we don’t much like our children, “the wistful words of Dr. Hanna-Attisha pediatrician, author of Common Read’s “What the Eyes Don’t See,” and activist warrior for safe water. She spoke to a packed BGSU Union about her struggles getting “the system” to even acknowledge the problem, let alone provide solutions, for the lead laced water threatening Flint and its children.
It seems Voters of Bowling Green don’t much like our kids either.
Voters, myself included, support fire, police, libraries, the drug addicted, seniors, historical society , parks, downtown business, swimming pool, fire works and parades. We support the new and maintain the old. Somehow the future, the best educational setting for our Community’s children, is an onerous tax burden.
Locals can drive by daily for decades and admire the tax dollars well spent on school buildings. Local schools are not the place to start your tax protest. Schools are visible community dollars, not the mysterious federal dollars
Some thoughts.
Replace buildings like every other School District in Wood County.
All of a sudden Bowling Green citizens are too poor. Our buildings are immortal and like Brigadoon are slumbering in another century.
State of City: prosperous – Time to say yes to BG schools!
State of County: prosperous -Time to say yes to BG schools!
Employment: very high – Time to say yes to BG schools!
Farmers are having a rough year: what’s new? Tax supported subsidies are never turned away. The Finance Commitee turned themselves into pretzels to accommodate them. Time to say yes to BG schools.
Don’t like the building plan? Well, my way or no way and ignore the big picture. The problem remains while costs go up. Decisions have to be made on best evidence. One Community, One School is going to be great! Time to say yes to BG schools.
BG is a university town, but hey New Faculty, Perrysburg and its new schools isn’t much of a commute. Coming to work at First Solar? All those nice school facilities scattered around the county…why endure the temperature roulette of BG schools? Who in BG government wants your tax dollars anyway?
Bowling Green’s Best City designation is a cruel joke if we don’t support schools.
Bowling Green voters, it is time to show we do indeed like our children, and we really are a Best City.
