In anticipation of additional snow tonight, the city is suggesting that residents can assist in keeping roads passable by moving parked vehicles from streets and planning ahead for visitors over the holiday. Keeping streets free and clear of parked vehicles is a tremendous help in the snow removal process, allowing the entire street to be cleared and treated.
This request is being made in preparation of additional snow and decreasing temperatures creating potentially unsafe conditions that may require the declaration of a snow emergency. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and park their vehicles off the street. The city has snow plow crews on standby.
If two inches of snow is received, a snow emergency may be declared, implementing parking restrictions. As a reminder, if a snow emergency is declared between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., vehicles must be removed from snow streets within two hours of the declaration. If a snow emergency is declared after 9 p.m., vehicles must be removed by 9 a.m. the following morning.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s website, local news, or sign up for the eNews or the snow emergency text notification. As a reminder, the eNews sign up is located from the city’s homepage. The snow emergency text notification sign up is as easy as texting “follow bgsnowemergency” to 40404.
