BG SONG invites community members to enroll in ‘Walking College’

From BOWLING GREEN SAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOODS GROUP

Bowling Green Save Our Neighborhoods Group’s (BG SONG) Transportation Mobility Action Team invites the community to enroll in Walking College, a free online educational program that works toward expanding access to walkable, vibrant, safe places. Fellows will hone in on a problem in their community they wish to address, develop the knowledge and skills they need to help bring about positive change, and create a plan with feedback from mentors and peers.

Participants are asked to commit to 5 – 10 hours per week to complete six online learning modules consisting of readings, videos, written assignments, discussion groups, one-on-one coaching sessions, and workshops. By the end of the program, participants submit an action plan outlining goals, strategies, and a timeline for taking meaningful action toward a problem of their choosing.

The Walking College is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity in support of the Active People, Healthy Nation Initiative.

Applications are due Monday, Feb. 16, and those chosen to participate will be told in March. It is a free six-week course that starts in mid-June. There will be three Zoom meetings with other participants. Applications can be found here: https://americawalks.org/programs/walking-college/.
