BG SONG invites community to help launch teams focusing on housing, public transit, climate challenges

Call to Action in October brought people together to discuss housing and mobility issues in BG.

BG Save Our Neighborhoods Group (BG SONG) is inviting people from across the community to attend the launch events of the recently organized Call to Action Teams.

The events will be held in the fellowship hall at First Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Church St. in Bowling Green, on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. Those interested are welcome to attend one or both of the meetings. Cider, tea and cookies will be served.

The action teams are the result of the community Call to Action meeting hosted in October by BG SONG and the City of Bowling Green. At that event, participants chose four project areas on which to take action in the city over the coming year. These are:

  1. Revitalization of existing properties
  2. Exploration of expanded public transit
  3. Adoption of measures to prepare for climate challenges
  4. Development of new housing options within the city

Participants at the launch parties will break into groups to consider one of these areas, share ideas on doable short term projects and reach consensus on which initiative each action team should pursue.

Anyone who is unable to attend but would like to stay informed of the meetings’ outcomes, may email bowlinggreensong@gmail.com to receive more information.
