BG swears in three new firefighters to city’s fire division

Allison McCoy is sworn in as new firefighter by Mayor Mike Aspacher.

Three firefighters passed their one-year probation periods and were sworn in as new firefighters with the Bowling Green Fire Division on Monday evening.

Mayor Mike Aspacher issued oaths to Allison McCoy, Ryan Steen and Ethan Basham. The new firefighters were surrounded by family members, and supported by their fellow firefighters lining the back of City Council chambers.

Fire Chief Bill Moorman recognized the long hours of studying and training that got the new firefighters past their probation. He encouraged them to work with the fire division team on the common goal of making a positive impact in the community on a daily basis.

“Never stop caring. Never stop learning,” Moorman said.
