BG crews to begin repainting green decorative poles in downtown area

One of about 400 downtown poles slated for cleaning and repainting in downtown BG.

Starting the week of June 9, Bowling Green city crews will begin repainting the decorative poles throughout the downtown area. To minimize disruption, the work will be divided into zones and completed in stages.

Each pole will be prepped and primed with a gray base coat, followed by a final coat of the custom Heritage 2000 green color. During work in each zone, temporary parking and lane restrictions may be in place.

As part of the process, flower baskets and Hometown Hero banners will be temporarily removed and reinstalled once work in each zone is complete. Benches and trash receptacles will also be removed, repainted, and returned to their locations as work progresses.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-July, though the schedule may shift based on weather conditions and work progress.
