BGSU College of Music opens recital series by showcasing faculty performers

The BGSU College of Musical Arts will begin this semester’s Faculty Artist Series will a showcase Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall in the  Moore Musical Arts Center.

The program will feature more than 20 new and returning faculty members performing chamber music ranging from music by J.S. Bach for violin and harpsichord to music for iPad by Piyawat Louilarpprasert, of the composition faculty.

The concert program is:

  • “Fanfare from ‘La Péri’” by  Paul Dukas performed by the BGSU Faculty Brass:  Jane Anderson and Charles Saenz, trumpets, Andrew Pelletier, horn, Jeremy Marks, trombone, and David Saltzman, tuba.
  • Sonata for Violin and Harpsichord by Johann Sebastian Bach performed by Benjamin Hoffman, violin and Irene Kim, harpsichord
  • “Like the Wind that met with Lotus (Seo)” Joowon Kim performed by Sujin Lee, soprano, and  Kevin Bylsma, piano
  • Fantasy for Flute and Piano by Gabriel Fauré performed by Keren Schweitzer, flute and Robert Satterlee, piano
  • “Gestillte Sehnsucht” Johannes Brahms (performed by  Katherine Pracht Phares, mezzo-soprano, Hannah Levinson, viola, and Laura Melton, piano.
  • Solo for iPad by Piyawat Louilarpprasert performed by the composer.
  • “Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison performed by  Cole Burger, piano
  • “Ein Traum (F. von Bodenstedt)”by Edvard Grieg performed by Sarah Luebke, soprano and Kevin Bylsma, piano
  • Overture from Ruslan and Lyudmila by Mikhail Glinka performed by pianists Solungga Liu, Laura Melton, Robert Satterlee, and Yevgeny Yontov.                                                                 
  • “Running with Scissors” by Gene Koshinski performed by Dan Piccolo, marimba
  • A piece to be announced by the Faculty Jazz Ensemble: David Bixler, saxophone, Ariel Kasler, piano, Aidan Plank, bass, and Dan Piccolo, drums.
