Residential students will pay an additional $100 next year based on the room rates approved Friday by BGSU Board of Trustees.
That’s an average of 2.7 percent. Rates are set using a four-tiered system based on the amenities available. The standard double room will increase by 3 percent. This is the lowest cost and is the rate reported to the state.
A standard double will cost $3,280 next academic year while a single in the Greek Village will cost $4,480, a 2.3 percent increase.
The board also approved a meal plan rate increase of 4 percent for incoming students. The Bronze Plan, the least expensive plan, will cost 2,023, an increase of $78.
Under the Falcon Tuition Guarantee students entering in fall pay the same meal rates for their four undergraduate years.
Chief Financial Officer Sheri Stoll noted this was less than the 4.7 percent proposed last year.
Inflationary pressures and staffing difficulties are easing, she said.
With these increases, BGSU would remain the fifth more affordable state university, and more affordable than those it compares itself to.
