Blacksmith Demonstration Day offers free family fun at the historical center.
On Saturday, April 7, the Wood County Historical Center & Museum kicks off the spring season with a free Demonstration Day featuring the Northwest Ohio Blacksmiths Association as they keep the art of blacksmithing stoked in heart of Wood County with an Open Forge Demonstration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Watch seasoned blacksmiths or try your hand at this lost art.
The Wood County Historical Center & Museum, located at 13660 County Home Road in Bowling Green, will offer free admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to two feature exhibits: “Send Word, the Wood County Boys Are Coming! World War I 1914-1918” and the new 2018 exhibit “The Return to Normalcy: A Life of Leisure in Wood County,” which highlights the fun times of the 1920s & 30s between the two World Wars.
The Wood County Historical Museum hosts historical demonstration days throughout the year with a full schedule and details at woodcountyhistory.org. Demonstration Days are sponsored by the Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and showcase historic activities such as log cabin life, amateur radio, farm & tractor demonstrations, leisure-time camping, and Brothers Grimm tales for the folklore season.
The Wood County Historical Museum opened in 1975 after serving as the Wood County Infirmary from 1869-1971. The museum is the home of numerous community and family friendly events throughout the year.
