From BOWLING GREEN HIGH SCHOOL BOBCAT BANDS
On Friday, Sept. 26, “Bobcat Bands” kicked off its annual fundraiser campaign. As the 8th grade band joined the BGHS marching band at the home football game, the online platform to accept donations opened. The campaign is a major fundraiser for the band and has historically raised between $4,000 and $7,000.
Instead of traveling door-to-door on a single day, as had happened in past years under the name “Bobcat Tag Day,” the fundraiser was moved online and will continue for three weeks. There are various events planned to highlight the band’s talent, including performing at the Anthony Wayne Showcase of Bands, several more football game performances, and an indoor concert.
All monetary donations will benefit the Bobcat Band students in grades 6 – 12. Donations will be used to help fund a spring band trip to New York City, music scholarships for students, clinicians who provide enrichment opportunities for students, and the purchase of new uniforms.
The fundraiser will continue into mid-October and conclude at the end of the concert week. A middle school band concert will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., at the Bowling Green Performing Arts Center (PAC). The high school jazz bands will perform at the Veteran’s Memorial Atrium at City Park on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. The high school marching band will perform at the PAC on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., as the fundraiser will come to a close.
The Bobcat Band currently has 250 students enrolled in grades 6 – 12. The community will have the opportunity to hear members of the Bobcat Bands perform multiple times throughout the year, including parades, concerts, and halftime shows.
Checks can be made payable to “BG Bands” and mailed to: BGHS, 530 W. Poe Road, Bowling Green, OH 43402. Donations can also be made online at https://app.99pledges.com/fund/2025bobcatband.
