Brett D. Marten, age 37, of Bowling Green, OH passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his residence. He was born on February 24, 1979 in Toledo, OH to Kenneth Marten and Janice (Young) Smith. In 1997 he graduated from Eastwood High School. He was employed through Union Hall #351, Toledo as a carpenter and by his choice he was proud to be a scaffold builder. In his spare time he loved to be outdoors, hunting, cutting wood, snowmobiling and growing his own fruit to make wine which he called “582 Winery”. Brett was an avid movie watcher, Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Michigan fan. Playing video games with his nephews and spending time with his family was most important to him.
Brett is survived by his mother: Janice Smith of Luckey, father: Kenny (Cathy Barr) Marten of Perrysburg, brother: Josh (Joey) Marten of Luckey, sisters: Annie (Matt) Blackledge of Cramerton, NC, Emily (Chad) Stevers of Findlay, Erica Rudd of Bowling Green, grandparents: Wayne and Lois Young of Luckey, nieces: Kenzie, Lexi, Kylee, Addy Jo, nephews: Toby, Trent, Chandler, Riley, Carsen and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Wayne and Erma Marten and uncle: Larry Pribe.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 21, 2016 from 2-8 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar Street, Pemberville, with additional visitation from 10:00 AM until time of services. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Musteric. Interment will be in Pemberville Cemetery, Pemberville. A bereavement luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal services.
