Carl Ray Dewyer, 83, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2024.
Carl was born on July 1, 1940, to the late Carl Vee and Madeline (Coss) Dewyer in Vincennes, Indiana.
On April 24, 1965 Carl married his soulmate Marianne (Coppes) and enjoyed nearly 59 years of marriage. Carl is survived by Marianne and sons; Carl Vee (Kristen) Dewyer and Cody (Lynn) Dewyer. Grandchildren Kyle Dewyer, Cory (Kaylie) Dewyer, Kayen Dewyer and Christina Menges. He is also survived by two siblings, Steve (Sherry) Dewyer, and Connie Holicker.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Troy, Terry and Sam.
After graduating from Bowling Green High School in 1958, Carl enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea, before returning home to Bowling Green. Carl then continued his pursuit of public service and became a firefighter with the Bowling Green Fire Department, serving over 27 years.
As an avid outdoorsman, Carl was the President of the Northwest Ohio Fur Traders Association from 1986-1990. He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie for walleye and pike on Big Star Lake in Baldwin, Michigan.
His huge heart made it easy for him to always make a friend wherever he went. He lived life to the fullest, sharing his knowledge good or bad with everyone he knew. His delicious cooking and great stories will never be forgotten. There was never a dull moment with him around.
Per his request, Carl will be cremated. There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral services have been entrusted with Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
