Chamber graduates 37th leadership class

From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Adult Leadership Class celebrated the completion of the 2019 classes and graduation of twenty students with an evening social gathering at SamB’s Restaurant.  This is the 37th class to complete the program with approximately 800 graduates in all.

The course is an intense day of instruction once a month for 9 sessions.  Over 75 speakers provide instruction and experiences.  The sessions include meeting with County and City officials and agencies at their offices, site visits and speakers at area manufacturers and agricultural operations, seminars and learning exercises with leadership authorities.

The class is also responsible for doing a community service project.  This year, the class had decided to hold a fundraiser for the Wood County Humane Society.  Prudy Brott, owner of Sunset Bistro is working with the group and will provide a portion of all sales to the Wood County Humane Society on June 4th.  The class is also selling raffle tickets for a date night basket and will sell baked dog treats the night of the event.  Those interested in purchasing tickets for the date night basket can do so through one of the graduates or at the Chamber of Commerce office.

This date also directly correlates with a visit of the Open World Leadership delegation from Moldova.  The delegation will meet in the afternoon to learn more about the Chamber’s Leadership Program and support the fundraiser at Sunset Bistro as well.  Dr. Doris Herringshaw, President of the Wood County Commissioners, Mary Hinkelman, Executive Director of the Chamber, and Jim Elsasser, President of the Bowling Green Community Foundation will be those addressing the delegation about this program.  The entire delegation was organized by Dr. Elizabeth Balint, WSOS/GLC Project Manager.

Each student applies to be accepted into the BG Leadership program and those applications are being accepted now for the class that will begin September of 2019.  You can find the application on the BG Chamber of Commerce website at bgchamber.net.
