Charles Shirkey, 89, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2025. Charlie was born September 20, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio.
After serving in the Marine Corps, Charlie returned to Columbus, where he earned his PhD from Ohio State University. In 1969, he moved to Bowling Green, where he was a professor of Physics for many years. His beloved spouse, Ardis, and son Ross passed before him – in 1995 and 1997 respectively.
Charlie is survived by son Tom (Karen) of St Pete Beach FL, daughter-in-law Tracy of Atlanta, grandson Alec (Linnea) of Boston and granddaughter AnnaBeth (Alex) of Atlanta and long-time companion Sue Work of Cygnet, Ohio.
Friends of Charlie are invited to a Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 21, 6:00-8:30pm at Stone Ridge Golf Club, 1553 Muirfield Drive in Bowling Green.
