The following is a quote written by Andrew Coyne in Canada’s most prestigious newspaper, the Toronto Globe and Mail. “Donald Trump can only get worse … however corrupt or incompetent or dictatorial or treasonous or insane he may appear at any given moment; it will inevitably come to be seen as a relative golden age beside what is to come.”
“There is a reason for this. It is that he can only stir the media and establishment outrage on which both he and his supporters thrive if he behaves even worse than we are accustomed to him behaving. It is not enough to say or do some appalling thing, even if it would have ended the career of any previous politician.” Reported by Robert Reich
On Thursday, December 18, 2025, President Trump stated in a press conference reported by WBGU that the US is “Respected like never before.” His statement is curious, considering his apparent efforts to draw the US into a war with Venezuela. This effort will surely not bring greater esteem or admiration from the world community. With this president’s outrageous behavior, perhaps “feared” is a more appropriate word than “respected.” Let’s hope that Andrew Coyne is not correct in stating that the current state of affairs is a “golden age” compared with what is to come.
We must take action by supporting intelligent, respectful and qualified candidates in the midterm elections and advocate for issues that help more than billionaires.
