Clarence “Bud” Lane passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2024, just shy of his 95th birthday.
Bud was born Dec. 28, 1929 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Browder and Velma Lane and met his wife, Roberta (Buckey) of 68 years on a blind date, marrying her on March 10, 1956.
Bud is survived by their two children and spouses: Sue and Barry DiBiasio, Bowling Green, OH and Jon and Donna Lane, Aurora, CO; grandchildren: Jessica (Cale) Hover, Anthony DiBiasio, Mariah (Allan) McDaniel, Joel Lane; and great-grandchildren: Joey, Jack and Allison Hover and many beloved in-laws, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Lane; sister, Alma (Bruce) Kelly; his grandson, Jackson Lane.
Bud was a gentle soul and well known in the community for his service to BGSU, First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green (FUMC), Falcon Hockey and chair of the Ice Horizons biannual Ice Show.
Bud was head of the unit of the BGSU Controller’s Office in the Office of Grants Accounting as a talented accountant. In his spare time, he leaned on his creative interests such as performing in the BGSU Summer Musicals, singing in the FUMC Chancel Choir and skating in decades of Ice Horizons Ice Shows.
He was known for telling true, but unbelievably strange, stories from his childhood, growing up in a rural community that was an epicenter for steel and pottery manufacturing. He worked in the Steel Mill and Foundry before and after his military service during the Korean War, where he served in hospitals in Texas and Florida.
Bud was a trusted professional, a wise father and grandfather and a true gentleman who will be sorely missed by his friends and family. His unwavering faith in God and his discipleship of Jesus will carry through for generations to come.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green, OH
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home. Kind words and memories can be shared with Bud’s family at www.hannemanfuneralhomes.com.
