From BOWLING GREEN PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation has invited the community to Simpson Garden Park, 1291 Conneaut Ave., to help prepare the lilies for winter. From 10 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Oct. 25, participants will help to divide and cut back the daylilies. Participants will also receive a lily propagation to take home after the program.
All necessary tools will be provided at this free event. Weather- and gardening-appropriate clothing is encouraged. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. – noon.
Daylilies are separated and cut back at the end of the season to prevent overcrowding and to create new plants through propagation. Overcrowding can result in less resources for each plant, reducing the number of blooms. The community is invited to support Simpson Garden Park, while also taking home a piece for their gardens.
