The Wood County Emergency Management Agency has issued the following advisory:
The majority of Wood County remains under an “Enhanced Risk” (3 of 5) for severe weather this afternoon (3-30-25).
As this system moves through the country, large hail, heavy rain, and strong winds have remained persistent. The key for Wood County remains the same: the sunnier the afternoon, the greater the potential for stronger storms. Looking at the system nationally, the greatest potential for severe weather spans from southwestern Kentucky to Mississippi. However, we should plan for the worst and hope for the best.
The main threat for Wood County will occur between 5 and 9 p.m. this evening. These storms could produce wind gusts of 50-70 mph, large hail, and even an isolated tornado. Expect downed trees, power lines, and potentially inaccessible roads. Due to the risk of large hail, consider moving items indoors or taking other precautions to protect them.
Recommendations:
- Keep cell phones charged
- Ensure flashlights are accessible with fresh batteries
- If possible, adjust travel plans to avoid being on the roads during this time
- Have multiple ways to receive alerts (e.g., CodeRED, phone apps, weather radio, media)
