Curtis Lynnwood Peet, Jr. (92), long-time resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma died on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 6 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Stumpff’s Funeral Home Chapel in Bartlesville, Okahoma (1600 SE Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006). Graveside burial will occur in Bowling Green, Ohio at Oak Grove Cemetery on Monday, June 12th at 11:00 a.m.
Curtis L. Peet, Jr. was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all he met. Curtis L. Peet, Jr. was born on March 4, 1931, in Houston, Texas to Curtis L. Peet, Sr. and Zelma Lee Duran Peet. Curtis L. Peet, Jr. and Alice Katherine Hines married on September 7, 1952. Curtis L. Peet, Jr. lived in Texas and Louisiana during his childhood; he graduated high school (1948) from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. Curtis graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology (1954). Curtis met the love of his life, Alice Katherine Hines in 1950, and they married in 1952. Curtis was active duty with the Air National Guard in 1951 during the Korean War conflict. Curtis and Alice welcomed two sons, Curtis Edwin Peet (December 1, 1956) and Glen Lee Peet (May 28, 1960).
Curtis worked for Phillips 66 for 30 years. He started his career in 1956 as a geophysicist and retired in 1986 with the title of Chief Geophysicist. The Peet family lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, Houston, Texas and London, England during his esteemed career.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Peet, and son, Glen Peet, three grandsons, Curtis Andrew Hobbs Peet, James David Hobbs Peet and William Pierce Hobbs Peet (Tiffany Lea Payne Peet), and a daughter-in-law, Susan Hobbs Peet. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis L. Peet, Sr. and Zelma Peet, his son, Curtis Edwin Peet.
Curtis Peet was a devoted family man. He honored and cherished his family every day of his life. He treasured his wife, helped raise two strong sons and was the world’s best grandpa. He was a long-standing member of Adams Blvd. Church of Christ in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Curtis Peet’s favorite things to do were completing genealogy research, traveling (take trips to visit with grandsons in Ohio), and antique shopping with Alice. Curtis was also a very devoted person to extended family members and life-long friends.
