Dane Sergent, 50, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed peacefully on April 14, 2023 at Toledo Hospital Ohio with family by his side. The family took an honor walk to carry out his final obligation of being an organ donor.
Dane Harold Sergent was born on March 30, 1973 to parents Doye Sergent and Jane L. (Frobose) Sergent in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Dane was a 1991 graduate of Bowling Green High School where he began his love of baseball and played on the team all 4 years. After high school, Dane attended Defiance College with a baseball scholarship where he played the position of catcher which brought great joy to his family while attending all of his games. Dane graduated from Defiance College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.
Dane married former wife Michelle Logan, whom they share his eldest son Logan Dane Sergent.
On June 16, 2012 Dane married his wife Tina Louise Brossia and they share 2 children together; Justin Thomas Sergent, and Ella Louise Sergent.
Along with his wife, Tina, Dane is survived by his children Logan Sergent of Tontogany, Ohio, Justin Sergent of Perrysburg, Ohio and Ella Sergent of Perrysburg, Ohio, his mother Jane Sergent of Bowling Green, Ohio, a sister Kaymie Hafner and brother-in-law Mark Hafner of Rudolph, Ohio and a sister Kari Sergent of Bowling Green, Ohio. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Andrew Sergent, Samuel Emery, Jaynie Emery, Lukas Emery, Nick Brossia, Patience Brossia, Kain Brossia & Trey Brossia, great-nephew Kamsden Brossia, in-laws Tom and Louise Brossia of Jerry City, Ohio, brother-in-law Tim and Cindy Brossia of Rudolph Ohio, and brother-in-law Troy and Yvonne Brossia of Jerry City, Ohio, and many aunts, uncles, special cousins and friends he held so close to his heart.
Dane was preceded in death by his father Doye Sergent, grandparents Harold Frobose, Marilyn Cooper Frobose, Maymie Sergent, and Sam Sergent.
Dane worked as a self-employed painter and at Harr and Harr Painting in Pemberville, Ohio. He loved his craft and especially loved getting to know his clients. It was common for Dane to go back for a visit after the job was finished. He loved conversation and a good laugh.
Some of his most joyous times were spent grilling delicious food for his family and friends, or fishing at Aunt Kay and Uncle Dorsey’s pond and golfing with his buddies. Dane had a gift of knowledge for nature and the great outdoors. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns Fan. Dane had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and watching baseball and football.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2023 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster St. His funeral service will be held on Thursday April 20, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Dr. Pastor Robin Small will officiate. Interment will follow at Pemberville Cemetery.
