David Smith passed away Saturday, March 19th in Haines City Florida from complications from a fall. David was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to Reed W. and Virginia (Krebs) Smith on June 12, 1943. He married Jean Shockey on July 25, 1964 in St. Louis Church, Custar, Ohio. Dave was a lifelong farmer and just retired in November 2015.
Dave is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years and well as his pride and joy, son Michael (Heather). Adding to his life are two precious grandchildren, Austin & Alivia Smith. He was the middle son and he is survived by his two brothers, Dan of Custar and Dennis of Bowling Green.
He was an avid farm toy collector and a long time participant/fan of tractor and truck pulling. Dave loved farming and anything associated with the land. He had antique tractors that he enjoyed showing at local machinery shows.
David was a life time member of St. Louis Church and a graduate of Westwood High School in 1961.
Visitation for David will be on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster St., Bowling Green, Ohio. The funeral service for David will be on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 22792 Defiance Pike, Custar, Ohio, 43511. Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
