David Strausbaugh, 63, of Bowling Green passed away Monday, November 19, 2018.
David was born in Bowling Green, Ohio to Leroy and Mary (Stauffer) Strausbaugh. He married the love of his life Sandy Wenz on July 13, 1985 at the St. Marks Lutheran Church and she survives in Bowling Green. Also surviving are his children: Jon (Stacy) Strausbaugh of Monclova, Ohio and Samantha Strausbaugh of Toledo, Ohio; grandsons: Benjamin and Owen Strausbaugh; his mother Mary Strausbaugh of Bowling Green and siblings: Cheryl (Todd) Kurfess of Perrysburg and Mark Strausbaugh of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by his father Leroy Strausbaugh.
David was a 1973 graduate of Bowling Green High School. He began his career as a pressman for Sentinel Tribune from 1971-1980 and then went to work at the Wall Street Journal where he was the Assistant Press and Mail Room foreman from 1981 to present. David was an avid Bowling Green State University Falcon Hockey fan. He was also a big fan of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State University. He enjoyed watching Nascar and going to the tractor pulls. David was very active with the Boy Scouts of America. During his time is Scouts, he served as an assistant scout leader for Troop 358, Cub Scout leader for Troop 422, and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 422. He was the recipient of the Wood District Award of Merit in 2004, Silver Beaver in 2009, and was a member of the Wood District committee and Brotherhood member of the Order of Arrow. He also was an honorary leader of his daughters Girl Scout troop. David also enjoyed camping, tubing and going on Caribbean cruises Especially the tradition of midnight Putt-putt under the stars. He enjoyed RC racing with his son as a member of the One Eighth Racers of Toledo. David was a kind hearted and loving person who would help anyone in a time of need. Most importantly though, David was very family oriented. He truly loved them, especially his two grandsons who were his pride and joy.
Visitation for David will be on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 3:00-8:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., P.O Box 648, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. David’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the St. Marks Lutheran Church, 315 S. College Dr., Bowling Green, Ohio. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery.
