The City of Bowling Green has had a longstanding ordinance banning the sale of and discharge of fireworks. Despite the state law, passed in 2022, it is still illegal to discharge or shoot off consumer-grade fireworks in the City of Bowling Green.
The state law does not supersede the city’s local law.
“The safety of our residents and the prevention of fire is our top priority,” Bowling Green Fire Chief Bill Moorman said. “Fireworks can be very dangerous and should be left to the professionals.”
Residents are encouraged to review the city’s fireworks ordinance 93.40 on the city’s website: www.bgohio.org. Ignoring this ordinance could result in a citation.
