Edward “Chico” Calderon, 83, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Tuesday January 28, 2020 with his loving family by his side. He was born October 13, 1936 in Spring Branch, Texas to the late Toribio and Delores (Guzman) Calderon. He married Joyce Hernandez on November 9, 1963 and she survives in Bowling Green.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. Chico worked in sales at Toledo Florist Exchange for many years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green. He was a member of the VFW and AMVETS in Bowling Green, The American Legion Post 183 in Pemberville, Moose in Findlay and the Bowling Green Eagles. He was an avid Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He enjoyed bowling and working in his yard at home. His greatest joy in life came from the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Along with his wife of 56 years, Joyce, Chico is survived by his children Eddie (Susan) Calderon of Holland, Ohio, Armando (Erminia) Calderon of Bowling Green, Ohio, Kristina (Timothy) Anderson of Bowling Green, Ohio and Carlos (Jaclyn) Calderon of Bowling Green, Ohio, grandchildren Michael (Miranda), Thomas, Casey, Gabriella, Sofia, Nicolas, Isabella, Shelbi, Timothy, Bre’An (Tyree Hummel), Brenen, Damion and Addilyn and great-grandchildren Mya, Jerry, Gwendolyn, Isabel, Cassidy and Rylann. He is also survived by his brother Andrew Calderon of Cole City, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Matias Calderon and Maria Alicia Bautista.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday February 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 150 S. Enterprise St. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. Father Tom McQuillen will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Pemberville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday morning at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following burial at the cemetery, a luncheon will be held at the Bowling Green Eagles, 1163 N. Main St. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
