Edwin J. Hammett, 75, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1948, to the late Edwin and Frances (Byrne) Hammett in Cleveland, Ohio. He married Patricia Lavelle on June 21, 1969.
Along with Pat, Ed is survived by his children Edwin B. (Lauren) Hammett of Charlotte, North Carolina, Megan (Jim) Robinson of Cincinnati, Ohio, brothers Rob (Mary) Hammett, Tom Hammett, his 3 grandchildren Ryan Robinson, Alex Robinson and Shea Robinson.
Ed graduated from Fairview Park High School and The Ohio State University and spent most of his career serving as an administrator in state and local government. He retired from the Ohio EPA where he held the position of District Chief. In retirement, he served as Executive Director of the Lake Erie Commission. Ed had many interests including sheep farming, scouting, genealogy, fishing and boating on Lake Erie. He enjoyed traveling especially to Ireland. He loved spending time with his family and often involved them in his interests.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Black Swamp Conservancy or the charity of donor’s choice.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fish Cemetery Pemberville, Ohio.
