Evelyn Elizabeth Leslie, formerly of Luckey, OH, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Heritage Corner Skilled Nursing Center, Bowling Green, OH. The youngest of eight children, she was born May 17, 1929 to William and Elizabeth (Dresf) Goeckerman in Troy Twp., OH. Evelyn married Paul Leslie on June 11, 1949 in Latcha, OH. She was a stay-at-home mother and was also employed as a part-time custodian and cook in the Eastwood School District at Luckey Elementary School. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, OH, where she was active in the women’s circle groups. She took great pride in her home, family, and faith.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Michael W.(Roberta) Leslie, Bowling Green; Nancy Higgins, Boca Raton, Florida; and Roger Leslie, Kent, OH; grandchildren: Michael P. Leslie, Elizabeth (Steve) Snyder, Shannon Higgins; great-grandchildren: Mason, Bowen, and Brynn Snyder, brother-in-law: George Leslie, sister-in-law: Marge Goeckerman, beloved niece: Lois Ann Steensen, and treasured friend: Elaine Grolle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul; sisters: Inez Sandwisch, Esther Schmidt, and Vera Radeloff; brothers: Lloyd, Clarence, Norvall, and William Goeckerman, and son-in-law: Michael Higgins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory Remembrance Chapel, 1460 W. Wooster Street/P.O. Box 648, Bowling Green, OH 43402 with Rev. Cynthia Ritter officiating. Interment will follow the services at the Funeral Home in the Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, Ohio.
