The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred today, Oct. 2, on U.S. 6 between Pemberville and Wayne roads in Freedom Township. The crash was reported at 10:17 a.m.
The crash involved an eastbound Ford Escape, which was operated by John Brendan Sands, 23, of New London, and a westbound commercial dump truck operated by Richard David, 61, North Baltimore.
Sands was pronounced dead at the scene. David was transported from the scene by air ambulance. The initial investigation shows that Sands was at fault for the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
The Pemberville and Wayne fire departments assisted at the scene, as well as Pemberville and Bradner EMS.
