The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal snowmobile accident that occurred Saturday (11/29) at approximately 7:30 p.m. The accident occurred in a field north of 5253 Latcha Road in Lake Township.
The operator of the snowmobile was identified as Robert Albert Bortles, 58, from Walbridge. He was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo, and later pronounced deceased.
The investigation shows the snowmobile was traveling westbound on the north side of Latcha Road when it struck a utility pole.
Assisting on scene was Lake Township Police Department, Lake Township EMS and Fire Department, and Pat and Sons Towing.
The incident remains under investigation.
