Fire/EMS Levy Committee asks fellow BG citizens to vote in favor of income tax for fire stations

To: Citizens of Bowling Green

On Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th, the citizens of Bowling Green will have an opportunity to make a significant difference in the delivery of Fire/EMS services in the city.

A “yes” vote will not only help to ensure life-saving response times, but it will make possible the decommissioning of the outdated Court Street station, the construction of two new stations in strategic parts of the city, and the retention of the West Side station without any additional personnel.

A “yes” vote in support of a 0.15% tax on earned income only will also provide for the replacement of the aging ladder truck and provide for other much needed fire/emergency equipment to better serve the citizens of BG.

As members of the Mayor-appointed Fire/EMS Levy Committee, we have been particularly concerned about the dramatic increase in demand for emergency services, which this year will surpass 4,000 calls.

We all know that the difference between life and death in a Fire/EMS emergency is often measured in minutes, sometimes seconds. The goal in BG is always to reach most citizens in 4 minutes or less and this levy will help make that optimal response time possible for nearly 90% of homes.

Thank you for your support of this life-saving levy.
