Firma Koester

Firma Leona (Wisda) Koester, 78, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday November 20, 2025 in Bowling Green. She was born in Defiance, Ohio on December 5, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Leona (Hoeffel) Wisda.

Firma graduated from Defiance High School in 1964 and soon enlisted in the US Army where she would eventually meet Richard Koester, marry and then settle out West to begin their lives. They had 3 sons out West and moved back to Ohio in 1977 before having a daughter together. Having a daughter was always special to her as her own mother insisted once she moved back to Ohio, God would bless her with a daughter. Firma’s greatest joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, going to the beach and camping. In her earlier years, she was able to enjoy traveling to the Carolinas to visit her sons and grandchildren and was able to take a few cruise vacations with her sisters. Over the years she raised and provided for her children as best she could with hope that some day they would be thankful and gracious for the lives they lived and would continue to build.

Surviving are her children Douglas of Bowling Green, Martin of York, SC, James (JoDe) of Bowling Green, and Angela (Sam) Fitzpatrick of Columbus, OH along with ten grandchildren, Nathaniel, Tera, Brianna, Ryley, Tyler, Cassie, Ella, Leah, Emma, Sofie and 3 great-grandchildren.

Also survived by sisters Janice Miller of Paulding Ohio, Mary (Walt) Kepler of Bryan Ohio, brothers Ed (Judy) Wisda, Bernard Wisda and David Wisda, all of Defiance and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one sister, Marlene Wisda.

Following her wishes, Firma will be cremated and a private family gathering will be scheduled for a later time.
