Floyd F. Feather, 86, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 11, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Fred C. and Mable (Sylvester) Feather.
Floyd was a proud graduate of the Grand Rapids High School, Class of 1957. On April 15, 1962, he married Sylvia Shrader, whom he had met at the Swanton Coliseum.
Floyd was a man of strong Faith. He was one of the founding members of Bethany Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Ohio. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. His favorite was attending the True Blue Class and eating all the good food!
Floyd was a lifetime farmer, first working for neighbors, then owning his own small farm. To help support his family, along with his farm, he worked at Toledo Molding and Die’s test lab, retiring from there. He also worked at Teledyne in the test lab, and for a short time at Ford and Conrail.
During the 61 years Floyd and Sylvia were married, they had three children: Christopher (Melanie) Feather, of Grand Rapids, Jeannie Feather, of Grand Rapids, and Timothy (Susan) Feather, of Dallas, Wisconsin. They were blessed by nine grandchildren: Ben (Sondra), Zane (Kaelyn), Allison, Kaitlyn, Brett, Josh (Staci), Travis (Ashley), Greg (Kayla), and Jose (Selena); and several great-grandchildren.
Floyd is survived by his children; a brother, Leroy “Butch” (Marilyn) Feather, of Painseville, Ohio; and sisters-in-law: Rita Feather, of Liberty Center, Ohio, Kathleen Harmon, of Wauseon, Ohio, and Ann Schrader, Ludington, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sylvia, and brothers: Glen Feather and Wayne Feather.
Floyd’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the family and friends who have reached out to support them during their time of need, especially: Pastor Tim and Lesa Coley, Vicky Bratton, Nick Bratton, Larry and Janet Poling, Mark and Kathy Wise, Suzanne and Nancy Eames, and Marilyn Wulff for providing food and companionship for Floyd in his time of need. They would also like to thank Heartland Hospice of Whitehouse, especially Jamie, for taking such loving care of Floyd.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM, until the time of his funeral at 12:00 PM, at Bethany Baptist Church, 14070 Bailey Road, Grand Rapids, Ohio, 43522. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Contributions in Floyd’s memory may be shared with his beloved Bethany Baptist Church.
