Former strength coach Zachary Gibson sentenced to 60+ years in prison

Zachary Gibson, who formerly worked with Bowling Green High School students as a strength and conditioning through a contract with Fastrak Performance of Perrysburg, was sentenced today (5/30/24) to more than 60  years in prison.

He had been found guilty by a Wood County jury in April of guilty of 19 charges, 15 of which are sex offenses involving minors. 

The Court sentenced Gibson, 32, to a definite term 60.5 years with an indefinite term of 66 years. He faced a maximum sentence of 98.5 years. As a result of his sentence, he is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

In announcing the sentence, Wood County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Dobson acknowledged “the courage of the victims in this case. We hope that this strong sentence brings closure, justice, and a sense of healing to them and their families.”

Dobson continued: “This case was a massive collaborative effort between the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office. Several men and women proudly worked countless hours to bring about this successful prosecution for the benefit of the victims and safety of the community. Prosecutor Paul Dobson would like to single out the exemplary work of Lt. Det. Rod Smith of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and Felony Prosecutors Chas McDonald and Morgan Spitler.”
