Bowling Green Police Station

Four motorcycles were stolen overnight Tuesday (Oct. 21) in Bowling Green, and later found left in different locations around the city, according to BG Police Division.

The first to be reported stolen at 9:31 a.m. was a 2001 blue Suzuki Bandit, taken from an apartment parking lot in the 700 block of South College Drive. That bike was located around 2:30 p.m., with its ignition wires cut, in the 800 block of Sixth Street.

The second report came at 9:40 a.m. for a suspicious motorcycle parked behind a maintenance shed in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue. Police dispatch reached the owner of the 1993 gray Suzuki, who said he had parked it the day before at a different address on Fairview Avenue. Police found a flashlight wedged into the engine bay, and the engine wires cut. Officers secured the flashlight for possible DNA evidence, and contacted residents with outdoor video cameras.

Then at 10:57 a.m., the owner of a 2002 black Harley Davidson Sportster reported his motorcycle had been stolen from the same parking lot as the first one in the 700 block of South College Drive. At 2 p.m., the owner called back to let police know he had found his bike in the 800 block of Seventh Street, with its ignition wires cut, and brake light broken.

Later Tuesday, at 2:20 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious motorcycle behind a building in the 800 block of South Main Street. The 2018 black Kawasaki had reportedly been taken from an apartment parking lot in the 200 block of East Napoleon Road. It too had wires cut, stripped and put together. Police were searching for camera footage from the area.
