Franklin D. “Frank” Shaffer, age 89 of Pemberville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, February 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 23, 1927 in Bowling Green, OH to Herbert and Daydn (Cheetwood) Shaffer of Sugar Ridge, OH. Franklin married Jacqueline W. Willard in Oceanside, CA on August 7, 1950 and she preceded him in death on August 29, 2016.
For many years he worked at the Ohio Lime Plant in Woodville, OH and had also worked as a painter and rolled lawns. He was a member of the Wood County Baptist Church, Troy -Webster American Legion Post #240 of Luckey, OH and in his spare time loved hunting, fishing, playing golf and softball. He was a proud and honorably discharged United States Marine having served in the Korean War. He leaves a legacy of sharing Jesus Christ with many people as he had a deep concern for their souls. He also leaves a legacy of love and compassion for his daughters, grandchildren and other family and friends. Romans10:9,10 were two of his favorite verses. Franklin was an avid reader, especially reading and studying his Bible.
Franklin is survived by his four daughters: Jeanette Stein of Pemberville, Pat (C.I.) Caperton of Charleston, WV, Shirley (Rick) Andricks of Bowling Green, Donna (John) Cavendish of Bowling Green, 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister: Ardanelle (Tootie) Smith and brother: Robert Shaffer of Defiance. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Jacqueline, 3 sisters, 6 brothers and a granddaughter: Sarah Andricks.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 2:30 – 6:30 PM at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 27 at 11 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, Luckey, OH where there will be additional visitation from 10 AM until time of services. Rev. Rick Andricks will be officiating. There will be a bereavement luncheon served at the church immediately following the cemetery committal service. Interment will be in Webster Township Cemetery, Scotch Ridge, OH. Those giving a memorial contribution may wish to consider: The Gideons International or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
