From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Frank’s Automotive, LLC received the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce’s first quarter Investor Grant to use to help improve safety of tow truck drivers..
Wendy Weldon, office manager of Frank’s Automotive LLC, applied for the Investor Grant in hopes of using the money to help offset the cost of purchasing two Safe All PING Advance Road Warning Systems from Zips AWDirect. These systems would be utilized with their tow trucks to alert traffic ahead and remind other drivers to slow down or move over while tow truck drivers are providing roadside assistance.
According to recent AAA data, 60 tow truck drivers die each year in roadside accidents, approximately one driver every 6 days.
“This data does not account for other injuries by near misses our tow truck drivers have faced. Tow truck drivers must work in all kinds of weather including rain, snowstorms, wind, fog and at night responding to law enforcement calls for accident recovery and traffic stops. The Safe All PING Advance Road Warning System will deliver an advanced warning signal, alerting motorists to incidents ahead..approximately a half mile away,” said Weldon.“Ping seamlessly integrates with the Wave app used by more than 150 million motorists, (description from Zips AWDirect). This technology will help keep our drivers safe by alerting other drivers to slow down and move over whether they see the flashing red and blue or only the amber lights of our trucks.”
The Quarterly Investor Grants are available to all Investors in good standing at the Chamber, and the application is available online for easy submission. The Quarterly Investor Grant provides a Chamber Investor up to $1,000 that can offset the cost of an employee training program, the purchase of business-related equipment, or apply towards the offset of a BGSU/Owens student internship. The deadline for 2nd Quarter Grant submission is June 30th, 2025.
