Dr. Rachel Ann Walsh, Institute for the Study of Culture and Society fellow, fall 2025, will host a screening and discussion of the recently-restored documentary, “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” (1982). The event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 6 – 8:30 p.m., at the Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St., Bowling Green, in the second floor programming room.
Directed by Dick Fontaine and Pat Hartley, “I Heart It Through The Grapevine” follows James Baldwin as he revisits the sites of the American South that he once reported on during the Civil Rights Movement. Throughout, Baldwin talks with fellow artists, activists, and educators about ongoing Black freedom struggles and attempts to dismantle the gains of the Civil Rights Movement.
The event is free and open to the public.
