Free programs from Alzheimer’s Association offered in Wood County during May

The Alzheimer’s Association Northwest Ohio Chapter is hosting some free programs in Wood County during May, including:

Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body

  • Join to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement when it comes to decreasing your likelihood of getting dementia.

  • Alzheimer’s and dementia cause memory, thinking and behavior problems that interfere with daily living. Join us to learn how to recognize common signs of the disease; how to approach someone about memory concerns; the importance of early detection and the benefits of a diagnosis; possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process; and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

“These programs can build a sense of community for anyone facing Alzheimer’s or other dementia,” said Pam Myers, senior director, programs for the Alzheimer’s Association Central Ohio and Northwest Ohio Chapters. “We are here to offer free support and resources to anyone who needs it, regardless of where they are in their journey.”

There are 236,200 Ohioans 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease according to the Alzheimer’s Association 2024 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures. A total of 414,000 Ohio caregivers provide 624 million hours of unpaid care each year, valued at $11.4 billion.
