Gerald “Gary” Adler, 76, beloved father, son, father-in-law, and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on January 6, 2025. He entered this world on August 16, 1948, in McComb, OH, born to Donald and Louise Adler.
Gary is survived by his daughters: Melissa (Dennis) Adler DeSmith; Amber (Ryan) Golden; son Jon (Erin) Adler; grandchildren: Erin,Carter, Giuliana, Derek, Morgan Maddison and Eleanor; sisters: Denise Adler Prosak and Annette Adler DeAmicis, He was preceded in death by his son Ryan Adler, and his siblings Ronald Adler, Carolyn Henschen, and Rick Adler.
A graduate of Westwood High School, Class of 1966, Gary went on to earn his degree from Bowling Green State University, Class of 1971. He served honorably in the National Guard for four years.
Gary dedicated countless hours to his community as a co-founder of the Bowling Green Recycling Center. He found joy in fishing with his grandchildren, working on the family farm, cooking, and tinkering with machinery. Gary loved attending auctions and garage sales, and he cherished watching Ohio State football games and spending time with his grandchildren enjoying DIY shows, Hallmark movies, and Disney classics.
A devoted member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Thomas More Parish, and St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Gary’s faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Gary worked for 44 years as an accountant at The Andersons. He was an instrumental figure in his children’s lives, serving as manager of the Bowling Green Travel Hockey team for his son Jon and as a member of the Bowling Green Swim Board for his daughter Amber. Above all, Gary treasured his time with his family, raising four wonderful children and building a legacy of love, service, and dedication.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4-7 pm at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home. His funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 at St. Louis Church, Custar Ohio. Burial will immediately follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
